Building on the familiar designs of Versions 1 and 2, this latest edition retains the proven V2 head shape while adding a longer, ergonomic handle for greater comfort, reach and control.

Made from strong, durable polypropylene, it feels substantial yet flexible in the hand, helping to reduce strain as you work. It’s a thoughtful new option for achieving beautifully neat, professional rolled edges consistently.


What does a rolled edge tool do?


A rolled edge tool helps you complete one of the final stages of making a rigid lampshade: neatly tucking the surplus covering behind the top and bottom rings. Once your fabric has been applied to the self-adhesive panel and the exposed margins are ready to finish, the tool guides the material into the narrow space between the panel and frame.


This gives you more precision and control than using your fingers alone, helping the fabric sit smoothly around the full circumference of the shade. Working gradually, you can use the tool to tuck, neaten and press the material into place, reducing bumps, loose edges and uneven areas.

The journey from V1 to V3 shows how a simple lampshade-making tool can evolve through practical experience and customer feedback.

V1 introduced the familiar broad shape, with serrated and smooth working edges designed to tuck surplus fabric behind the rings and neaten the finished edge.


V2 took a more compact approach, using low-friction nylon, a moulded grip and a smaller head that could reach tighter areas.


This proven head shape has been retained for V3, but the overall design has been reimagined around comfort. Its extended ergonomic handle offers increased reach and leverage, while the flexible construction allows the tool to sit more naturally in the hand during repeated use.


Made from strong, durable 1,200-micron polypropylene, V3 feels more substantial without becoming heavy or cumbersome. Each version offers something different, giving occasional makers, workshop tutors and professionals the freedom to choose the rolled edge tool best suited to their work.

Version 3 brings together the most successful elements of the previous design with several thoughtful improvements focused on comfort, strength and control.

At 120mm long, the handle provides additional reach and leverage, making it easier to work steadily around the circumference of a shade. Its flexible design sits more naturally in the hand and is less rigid than earlier versions, helping to reduce strain when finishing several lampshades or working for longer periods. V3 is manufactured from strong, durable 1,200-micron translucent polypropylene, giving the working edge a more substantial construction while keeping the tool lightweight and practical.


An orange-peel, semi-gloss finish adds subtle texture and supports a comfortable grip. Together, these features give makers greater control over the finishing process and help create neat, consistent rolled edges.
