The Apollo 100% Recycled Fabric Collection

Not only does our Apollo 100% Recycled Fabric Collection boast impeccable environmental credentials, it’s also the perfect fabric for lampshade making, crafting, home accessories and interior projects, due to its robust weave and natural texture.

Available in four natural colours – Cream, Sky Blue, Mink and Grey – each fabric has slight ‘flecking’ resulting in a subtle organic appearance, which would easily slot into a modern or traditional interiors.

In terms of feel, at 210gsm we’d describe this fabric collection as light-medium weight fabric, making it perfect for lampshade making. As with all of our fabrics, it’s available by the metre and has a width of 140cm/ 55".

What Makes Apollo Fabric 100% recycled?

By combining recycled 87% cotton and 13% polyester yarns, our Apollo Fabric Collection is certified as 100% recycled, achieving The Global Recycled Standard.

How is Recycled Cotton Made?

The raw input comes from pre-consumer cotton waste, sourced from off-cuts and scraps from textile production, along with some post-consumer cotton material, which is mechanically shredded or broken back into shorter fibres.

These fibres are then cleaned, sorted, and often blended to make them suitable for spinning into new recycled cotton yarn, that can be woven into fabric.

How is Recycled Polyester Made?

The source material for recycled polyester in our Apollo Fabric Collection is used PET plastic bottles, which are cleaned, shredded into small chips, decolourised, and purified to produce raw recycled polyester material. The chips are then melted to form flakes that is processed and spun into yarn and after being woven, dyed and finished a new eco fabric is created!

Why consider using 100% recycled fabric?

Recycled fabric delivers by reusing textile waste, as well as cutting down on the energy and water required, when processing ‘virgin’ materials, like raw cotton and polyester, lowering its overall environmental impact and in turn, reducing our dependence on virgin petroleum as a raw material.

In addition, the recycling of PET plastic bottles prevents them from going to landfill or into oceans and better still, fabrics created from recycled polyester can be recycled again and again, with no degradation of quality, again minimising waste.
