This tactile design not only feels amazing but also gives off a soft, ambient glow when paired with one of our Lampshade Making Kits is the perfect way to bring both style and softness into your home.

About our Bouclé Cotton Slub Fabric

Available in two colours – white and natural – with a slightly open weave, making a lampshade in our Bouclé Cotton Slub Fabric is an easy way to bring texture to your space.

At 140cm wide, just one metre will make a minimum of five 30cm Drum Lampshades, or you can opt to make two lampshades and matching 40cm cushions, taking advantage of the softness of this tactile weave!

Looking to make a neutral statement lampshade? The width of our Bouclé Cotton Slub Fabric, means that you can make up to a 40cm Drum Lampshade Making Kit (the panel for this kit measure just over 127cm wide).

Contemporary Natural Fabric

Fitting perfectly with the ongoing interiors trend for natural materials our Bouclé Cotton Slub Fabric is 100% cotton and hand crafted in Northern India. The white version lends itself to contemporary interiors, whilst the natural version, is a wonderful buttery tone, that acts a neutral against a wide range of colours.

Tips for Making Lampshades with Bouclé Cotton Slub

As our Bouclé Cotton Slub Fabric, is a thick fabric, we’d recommend adding an extra 0.5 to 1cm allowance along the long edges, before beginning to cut around your panel. This ensure the fabric margin at the top and bottom is wide enough to tuck underneath the lampshade rings.

Fray prevention

An excellent tool to have in your lampshade making arsenal is Fray Stop, which bonds loose fabric fibres together to prevent fraying and provides a flexible finish to cut fabric edges that dries clear.

Due to the open weave of our Bouclé Cotton Slub Fabric, painting a minimal amount of Fray Stop along the edges, after cutting prevents excessive fraying leaving you with more fabric to work with.

Folded Edge Seam

If you want to create a Folded Edge Seam, for a truly professional finish, follow our step by steps instructions in our blog post, although it’s worth noting that for thicker fabrics we’d suggest using Superglue as well as using Tesa Double Sided Tape, or alternatively Seamstick Tape, which creates an extra strong bond.

Self Adhesive Textile Tape

Many of our professional lampshade makers advise using Self Adhesive Textile Tape to neaten the inside seam, particularly if using a thicker fabric that means the seam is slightly raised.

Hot On The High Street

Take inspiration from the High Street and achieve the same 'boucle' lampshade looks at a fraction of the price using our new Bouclé Cotton Slub Fabrics and one of many shapes of Lampshade Making Kits!
