5 Fantastic Family Craft Projects To Make For Easter

Easter is a fantastic excuse to get out the craft kit and do some family making. We've got 5 fantastic ideas to keep kids, and grown-ups alike, entertained during the holidays. With a mix of making, designing, painting, colouring and glueing, each project is an explosion of spring colour and creativity in its own right. And you guessed it - we've even included a lampshade!

1. Easter Egg Wreath

Simple, but effective is often the best kind of crafting, especially where younger ones are involved and this fun and colourful Easter Egg Wreath from our partners at Bostik won’t disappoint! Using material coloured cards and papers, the starting point for the project is a paper plate and the instructions include a FREE downloadable Easter egg template, making cutting out simple. Add a little sparkle, with our Glitter Foam Cardstock that's super easy for the kids to handle and cut.

2. Draw or paint your own lampshade

A long bank holiday weekend is the perfect time to create keepsakes of your children’s drawings or paintings and we’ve found a couple of ways of making them practical too!

Designer and Lampshade Maker, Marliese Richmond of Three Bears Prints, shows us how she helped her children put their imaginative ideas and drawing skills on a lampshade in our blog post, Lampshade Making with the Kids!. Marlies printed the designs using the Dannells' fabric printing service, but you could use fabric paints or fabric crayons and draw straight onto a plain piece of fabric for a more instant way of making up your shade.

And if painting is what your children enjoy then why not try a Make and Paint Lampshade Kit? The Lampshade Making PVC included in the kit is already coated in a white textile, ready for paint to be added in whatever style your kids choose. Acrylic paint works best with our Make and Paint Lampshade Kits and we’ve 24 colours for them to choose from. Anything paint style is possible from stamping, stippling, brushing and flicking! It's time to cover your surfaces and let the kids get messy!

3. Cherry Blossom Branch

Using packaging that would usually be thrown in the recycling bin, always makes for a satisfying craft project, especially when you can make something as beautiful as this Cherry Blossom Branch made from an upcycled egg box. Get the kids involved in painting the flowers in blossom inspired colours (our 100ml Pink acrylic paint would work well) and then let them direct you while you do the grown-up job of hot glueing each flower in place. Just a few branches would make a stunning everlasting display and a thoughtful Easter gift for someone you all love.

4. Felt Flowers Spring Wreath

Pack a decorative punch, by putting a Felt Flowers Spring Wreath on your door, made in bright, vibrant and welcoming colours. In our easy step by step tutorial, learn to make six different styles of felt flowers, before using a Bostik Hot Glue Gun to glue them to your ribbon-wrapped plain lampshade ring. It’s an Easter project that takes a small amount of materials, but delivers a BIG impact!

5. Easter Bonnet

We couldn’t talk about Easter crafting without mentioning an Easter Bonnet! It's the most traditional Easter craft of all and we love the longevity of this Easter bonnet idea, which uses Bostik Extra String Sticky dots to hold the bunny and chick decorations in place, that can be removed ready for next year’s creative ideas!
