#memadeshade April Winner

Updated: Oct 26, 2020

It's been another month of fine #lockdown lampshades, and with more and more of you finding solace in creativity, we've had some fantastic entries for our #memadeshade April Instagram competition, using our Needcraft lampshade making kits.

Your #memadeshades are brightening up our #wfh days, so keep them coming and you can find the details on how to enter the May competition below. And don't forget you can enter with any of kits, whether it's a drum, a coolie or a hexagon - they all count!

This month's lucky winner of our £100 voucher to be spent at Dannells, is stunning bespoke interior shade. Made by Sam and Jenny of @se9_edwardian_terrace, who's Instagram follows the gorgeous journey of their 'fixer upper' Edwardian home, they've made a shade to suit their modern, opulent style. Read more about them below.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and the creative things that you do?

We are Jenny & Sam! Jenny is a paediatric surgeon and Sam is as an actuary from London. In our downtime, we love to get creative and have really enjoyed renovating our house, which we moved into 6 months ago.

Are you a newbie lampshade maker or have you made up a Needcraft Lampshade making kit before?

We are complete newbies to lampshade making and the Needcraft lampshade kit was recommended to us by a friend who has used them before.

What do you love about the shade you entered for the #memadeshade competition?

The lampshade we entered into the competition was made for our living room which is dark blue, white and gold and the fabric is a William Morris design, which is typical of the Arts and Crafts movement. We love the shape of the lampshade and how the colours in the design compliments the room. We’ve mounted the lampshade on to a beautiful brass floor lamp which was sourced from an antique shop in Lewes in East Sussex.

What’s do you like most about the Needcraft lampshade making kits?

For such a good quality product, the Needcraft lampshade kit was so easy to use and construct. We would highly recommend using Needcraft kits if you’re new to lampshade making.

Any plans to make more lampshades?

Of course! We’ve been completely inspired to make lots of lampshades and have already planned the next shade for a bedroom. We are keen to go bigger and even more adventurers with the next design.

April's most liked shades

It looks like we're turning to bright, bold and summery from the look of April's most liked #memadeshades, showcasing everything from tropical flowers to sunshine shades of yellow and orange.
